Ngorongoro Conservation Area
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa's most remarkable wildlife destinations. At its heart lies the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest intact volcanic caldera, spanning 260 square kilometers and dropping 600 meters from rim to floor.
This natural wonder acts as an enclosed ecosystem, home to an estimated 25,000 large animals including the densest population of lions in Africa, endangered black rhinos, elephants, hippos, and flamingo-dotted soda lakes. The crater floor offers some of the most reliable Big Five viewing anywhere on the continent.
Beyond the crater, the conservation area encompasses the Olduvai Gorge - the "Cradle of Mankind" - where some of the earliest human fossils were discovered. A visit here is both a wildlife spectacle and a journey through human history.
